Walkway grating (WEMA grating): a structural element typically made of steel (carbon or stainless), consisting of a system of parallel load-bearing flat bars connected transversely by flat bars or cross rods through pressing or welding. It forms an openwork, durable walking surface. Walkway grating is an extremely versatile product used in industry, construction, logistics, and many other sectors wherever a strong, safe, and functional surface is needed.
Load-bearing flat bars: the main grating element responsible for carrying loads – must rest on the supporting structure.
Cross flat bars: flat bars or rods perpendicular to the load-bearing bars, forming the mesh grid.
Galvanized pressed grating KWO (pressed, KOP): gratings in which flat bars and cross rods are joined by a pressing process.
Galvanized welded grating (KOZ): gratings in which cross rods are joined by welding.
Galvanized staircase tread (STO, SOZ): gratings manufactured as stair treads, both welded and pressed.
Serrated anti-slip grating (S1, S2, S3): gratings with serrations on the surface of load-bearing bars (S1), cross bars (S3), or both load-bearing and cross bars (S2), enhancing grip and slip resistance.
Cutouts – holes, bevels, and other shapes cut into the gratings to adapt them to the project. We have two basic types:
Arched cutouts – round or partially round holes cut into gratings to fit around round obstacles (e.g. pipes). Two types:
Edge plate (“bortnica”) – a plate welded to the grating edge or cutout. It increases safety when walking on gratings, prevents objects from sliding off, and can protect pipes passing through the grating.
Anti-slip strip – a perforated angle bar installed along the grating edge, improving grip and preventing slips while walking. Commonly used on stair landings, stair treads, and inclined platforms (10–24° incline) along the full width, spaced at intervals matching an average step length (approx. 600 mm).
Angle iron – a steel angle section used, for example, as a frame for scraper gratings.
Panel welded into grating opening – a solution where one or more grating openings are covered or filled with a steel sheet containing a hole to assist installation.
Brackets – mounting elements that allow fast and secure fixing of the grating to the supporting structure. Typically, 4 brackets per grating are used. Types include:
Hot-dip galvanizing – a durable, impermeable zinc coating applied to the grating flat bars. By immersing the element in molten zinc, it is protected against corrosion and mechanical damage for decades.
Grating support – the bearing height of the grating (not less than 30 mm).
Grating span – the external dimension of the grating, including the bearing length.
HOW TO ORDER:
CODE | MESH SIZE | LOAD BAR | GRATING OUTER DIMENSIONS L × W | QUANTITY |
---|---|---|---|---|
KOZ | 33×33 | 30×3 | L = 1500 × W = 1000 | 20 |
